1. The author of Huckleberry Finn, a classic American novel, is Mark Twain, originally known as Samuel L. Clemens, who lived in Hartford for several years.

2. The neighbor of Harriet Beecher Stowe, the author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, was Mark Twain  on Farmington Avenue, Nook Farm and owned a very elaborate and elegant house.

3. Today, people say that the windows and balcony of Mark Twain's house, which has overlook the large side of porch, remind them of a steamboat, and that actually, he also used to be a pilot in his youth back then on Mississippi.

4. Since Mark Twain was one of the first three people in Hartford to own a telephone, there was actually no one to talk to, that's why he never really like this newfangled gadget, which was first used in nearby New Haven.

5. Even though, Mark twain loved industrial inventions, he had lost his fortune investing in them because of the Linotype machine, developed at the same time of his invention, which was much simpler and less expensive compared to his elaborate Paige typesetter creation.

6. Mark Twain soon left the house and Hartford after his beloved daughter, Susy, died of spinal meningitis in the Hartford home, since he never felt the same about it and returned only once for the funeral of his friend, Charles Dudley Warner.
